Flow is a simple tool that helps you make decisions. Studies have shown that all the quick decisions we make are related to not thinking far enough to see the potential consequences, flow helps you decide the only challenge is to keep using it. If you're between doing something or not doing it, you probably have enough material in you to help you decide, if you use that material to build a pattern you will be able to see the consequences and potential consequences of doing or not doing that action, and thus be more likely to make the right decision.
