English Cast - Special America

About this app

English Cast brings VOA Learning English to your phone: real American English, spoken slowly and clearly, written for people who are still learning. Fourteen VOA shows are already subscribed the moment you open the app — no setup, no account, no subscription. WHAT YOU GET • American Stories — classic American short stories, read aloud • Words and Their Stories — where English idioms come from • Everyday Grammar — one grammar point at a time • Ask a Teacher — real questions from learners, answered • U.S. History, America's Presidents, America's National Parks • Health & Lifestyle, Education, Science & Technology, Arts & Culture • As It Is, What's Trending Today?, What It Takes LISTEN YOUR WAY • Playback speed control — slow a news report down until every word lands • Skip forward and back 15 seconds • Sleep timer • Keeps playing with the screen locked, with full lock-screen and AirPods controls • Download any episode and listen offline, on a plane or underground FIND MORE • Search the whole podcast directory, not just the shows we picked • Favourite any show to keep it on your first screen English Cast is free, supported by a single banner at the bottom of the screen. There are no ads over your episodes and none at all while the player is open. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the Voice of America. The app plays VOA's public podcast feeds; all programmes remain the property of their producers.

Version 2.0 is a complete rebuild. NEW • 14 VOA Learning English shows are subscribed for you on first launch, so there is something to play straight away. • Download episodes and listen offline. • Playback speed, 15-second skip and a sleep timer. • Search the whole podcast directory. IMPROVED • Rebuilt for current iPhones and iPads: proper support for every screen size, and the app no longer looks like a black screen while lists are loading. • Audio keeps playing when the screen is locked, with lock-screen controls. • The banner ad now sits in its own strip below the content instead of over it, and there is no ad at all while the player is open. • Privacy and consent controls, with an ad-privacy option you can reopen in the app.

Momentum comes from crawler snapshots for the tracked storefront. “Viral growth signal” means unusually fast recent rating gains; it is an indicator, not download data.
