About this app
You are the newly elected President of Valcera, a fragile republic balanced between five powerful factions, a restless public, and a world that is watching. The Mandate is a text driven political simulation about the weight of decisions, not the noise of politics. Every session is a week in office. You read the morning brief, consult your advisors, and face a handful of dilemmas where every option has a cost. Raise taxes, crush a strike, negotiate a trade pact, veto a bill, respond to a foreign crisis. There is no correct answer, only the leader you choose to be. FREE TO TRY, AND THE FREE PART IS A REAL GAME The opening act of your term is free from start to finish. You take office, survive your first crisis, run a legislative docket, whip votes on the floor of the Assembly, hold a coalition together, and write a national budget across six ministries that you then have to take to a vote. It ends with an assessment of your first hundred days, and you decide from there whether to keep governing. No subscriptions. No ads. No energy timers. What’s New
NEW Move a sitting minister to another portfolio without sacking them. A cabinet that works well together buys you extra room when you whip a vote. One clear close control on every panel, sheet and card in the game. A budget that puts the money into the courts is now recognised as its own priority, with its own consequences and its own late term callback. A minister who leaves under a cloud stays gone. The game no longer puts them back. COALITION AND ELECTIONS Faction trust decays toward each party's natural position every week, so a coalition has to be kept rather than bought once. Pleasing one bloc costs you with its two rivals, and a party you have taken for granted says so while there is still time. The midterm moves on your legislative record and the campaign you ran instead of a roll of the dice, and a bloc that stands apart from the chamber gains or loses real seats. THE ASSEMBLY Each party holds a wedge as wide as its seat share. A tap in the chamber resolves to the nearest seat, with a floor sized for a fingertip. The chamber keeps its height inside a scrolling page instead of collapsing. The hemicycle reads correctly with VoiceOver. The word division is explained the first time you meet it. THE GOVERNMENT The Government opens on your roster, not on an appointment sheet. The replace sheet names the minister who holds the post and counts the candidates left. A ministry that has run out of names can recover its bench. The reshuffle cooldown is enforced once, in the rules, rather than separately by two buttons. Every budget line names the minister who answers for it. The caretaker government is seated once at the start rather than refilled behind you every week. Put a ministry off at the formation and it comes back to you later, with the cost of the empty chair spelled out, instead of standing vacant in silence. SCANDAL A scandal you never answer now resolves on its own. The story runs without your framing, at a worse price, and you are told it happened. One unanswered scandal no longer blocks every other scandal for the rest of your term. THE ARMY The generals' ultimatum can no longer be crowded off the calendar by ordinary business, so that arc plays out when you have earned it. ENDINGS The ending you are given now reflects the founding you actually chose rather than the protests that happened around you. A quiet reformer and a democratic reformer are told apart properly, so a term spent building democratic health is recognised as one. FIXES An event whose situation has changed is re-read before it reaches you, and again when you resume a save, so you are never asked about something that no longer applies. Controller and keyboard input is scoped to the screen you are on, so back always means the thing in front of you. All six header destinations open and close the same way. Save and Quit works from every in run screen on Mac. iCloud saves sync more reliably. Content that referred to a condition nothing sets is now rejected before it ships.
