About this app
Kizamu does something no other metronome app does: it tells you when to trust it. Kizamu is both a metronome and a real-time tempo detector. Point the mic at a drummer, a rehearsal, or a recording and Kizamu detects the tempo as it plays, from solo instruments to full bands and layered arrangements, showing exactly how confident it is so you always know whether to follow it or wait. THREE CONFIDENCE STATES Gray means Kizamu is still listening. Yellow means it has a candidate but wants a few more bars to be sure. Green means it is locked, and it stays locked through tempo drift, drum fills, and brief silences. No flicker, no random jumping. A STANDARD METRONOME No frills, just an accurate metronome when all you need is a steady click. TAP TEMPO Tap along to anything and Kizamu finds your tempo. GROOVE SEQUENCER Tap the dots in the sequencer to shape the click pattern. Each step can play, accent, or rest. Build a shuffle, a triplet feel, or a syncopated groove in a few taps and hear it immediately. Patterns span up to five bars for two-bar claves and longer phrases. MIXED METERS AND ODD TIME SIGNATURES Any time signature from 2 to 16 beats per bar: 3/4 waltz, 5/4, 6/8, 7/8, and beyond. Each bar of a groove can even have its own meter. Drop one 3/4 bar into a 4/4 groove and the sequencer, accents, and click follow every bar. SET LIST Save a groove once and stop rebuilding it at every rehearsal. A saved groove captures everything: tempo, time signatures, subdivision, groove pattern, and ramp settings. Organize grooves into named sets, one per gig, band, or student, and tap any groove to set the whole metronome instantly. Kizamu also comes with six built-in grooves: son clave 3-2 and 2-3, rumba clave, bossa nova, shuffle, and off-beat 8ths. They load at your current tempo, ready to play. TEMPO RAMP Set a starting tempo, choose a goal, and decide how many bars it should take to get there. Use a smooth ramp for continuous movement or stepped changes that hold each tempo for a set number of bars. Kizamu can play a short cue when the tempo changes, and Practice Mode can wait at each step until you hold it on target. PRACTICE MODE Set a target tempo and hit Start. Kizamu plays the click at that tempo and listens to your instrument at the same time. It reports in real time whether you are on target, rushing, or dragging. When you stop, you get a score and a full breakdown: on-target percentage, mean tempo, standard deviation, and maximum excursion from the target. Pair Practice Mode with Tempo Ramp to see how accurately you follow a moving target as the tempo rises or falls. SESSION HISTORY Practice and tempo-detection sessions lasting at least 20 seconds are saved automatically. Review when you played, for how long, and the key statistics. Search past sessions, compare fixed-tempo and ramp practice, and track the hours you have put in over time. Kizamu Pro adds custom session names, detailed tempo timelines, and CSV or PNG export for deeper review and sharing. FREE TO TRY, PRO FOR KEEPS Try tempo detection and Practice Mode free, with three sessions each and no account required. Tempo Ramp, mixed meters, core Session History, and a Set List with up to 10 saved grooves are included. If Kizamu earns its place in your workflow, a single purchase unlocks unlimited detections, unlimited practice sessions, unlimited Set List saves, Lab view, session timelines, custom names, CSV or PNG export, and more. FOR MUSICIANS, NOT JUST DJS Most BPM apps are built for DJs tagging tracks. Kizamu is built for musicians in the room: drummers who want to know their live tempo, guitarists locking to a rehearsal, teachers quietly finding a student's natural pace, and anyone playing along with a recording. LIVE ANALYSIS (PRO) The Lab view shows the internal state of the detection engine in real time. You see exactly what Kizamu is hearing as it hears it, how the lock is formed, and much more.
